Interference (Pilots Hockey, #3)

Linden Meadows doesn’t back down from anyone, especially if her family’s involved. So when her little brother’s new hockey coach benches him in the middle of a game, Linden lets him have it. She also notices that the coach is way hotter than she expects, but Linden won’t let herself get burned by another athlete. Been there, done that—and had a kid at seventeen to show for it.

When Jason Taylor isn’t taking abuse from hockey moms, he’s patrolling the streets as a member of the Bridgeland PD. After Jason pulls Linden over for speeding, he begins to see that there’s more to her than a big mouth . . . or a lead foot. Their chemistry leads to good company, intense conversation, and an intimacy that pushes beyond the boundaries of friendship. And yet Linden’s decision to keep her now three-year-old son, Holden, is a painful reminder to Jason that his own mother gave him up for adoption.
Linden’s sure she’s found the man to round out their family. But when Holden’s deadbeat dad forces his way back into the picture, Jason starts to back off. He needs time—to heal, to grow, and to love with all his heart.

4.5 Stars

This was my first time reading Sophia Henry and it definitely will not be my last. This book can easily be read as a standalone, even though it is the third book in the pilots hockey series. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Jason and Linden's story.

Linden has had to grow up fast and is really quite mature for her age. She is sassy, fun and has a quick wit. Indie works extremely hard to provide for her young son, with the help of her family. Her ex is a deadbeat dad, and has very little to do with his son, he's pretty much a stereotypical spoiled rich kid.

Jason Taylor is a police officer in Bridgeport a small town, and is also Linden's younger brothers hockey coach. Falling in love isn't in his five year plan, Jason is biding his time working in a small town so that he can return to Detroit to work on the police there. I loved that Jason comes across as bold and brash, yet he's also entirely charming.

Jason and Indie have an undeniable chemistry and the sparks fly when they are around each other. I really enjoyed their verbal banter, throughout the book. Both Indie and Jason have demons from their past, that they struggle with and need to put aside in order to form a lasting relationship.

Interference is a sweet romance with characters that are likable and believable. I absolutely adored the Taylor family, they were so lovable and quirky.

I was expecting there to to be more hockey in this book but it really only appears minimally, this does not detract from the story but the title of the book may be a tad misleading if you are particularly after a sport or hockey romance.

This book is thoroughly engaging and entertaining and from the very first page, I was hooked.
