When I saw this cover, I totally wanted to read Rising Heat. I was so looking forward to reading a book about an alpha bad boy covered in tattoos, who rides a Harley and is part of an MC. The cover is misleading as Ash only has one tattoo, and he wasn't that strong of an alpha. I honestly found Rising Heat, a bit hard to get into. I found it difficult to connect with the characters. I am a huge MC Romance fan, but this is not a typical MC Romance. The MC in this book is referred to a gang, rather than a club throughout the book.
I found the story to be quite slow paced, til about half way through and then I became more engaged with the plot. I would have liked to have seen more of the relationship between Ash and Kathy and seen it develop more. It felt like they had just connected as a couple and the book ended. They had a really strong chemistry, but the book really lacked them acting on their attraction.
It's a well written but just didn't hit the mark for me. This was my first time reading a book by Helen Grey and i'm sure I will read more of her work in the future.
