Having read all the previous books in this series, I was incredibly eager for Izzy and Maksim’s story, and Rachel Van Dyken did not disappoint.  Fallen Royal is not your normal friends to lovers or second chance romance, it’s an angsty, emotional, violent, and suspenseful mafia romance that is quite heartbreaking at times.

Much like the previous books in the series, this title has strong themes of love, loyalty, family, and friendship, but it has a darker undertone with corruption, vengeance and sacrifice as well.

Izzy and Maksim are just as captivating and intriguing as their story.  She’s strong, sassy, fierce, intelligent and loves with her whole heart.  Maksim is mysterious, intelligent, and broken, and will do just about anything to prove he’s worthy of Izzy’s love.

This title is packed full of intriguing and unexpected twists and turns, and I honestly couldn’t put Fallen Royal down, if anything it’s made me even more eager for King’s story next.

My chest started pounding.

No, that was my heart.

It was thumping in my chest, getting stronger, faster—a steady and powerful beat now. I could feel it all the way to my toes—in my fingers, my neck. His eyes lingered on my lips.

He couldn’t look away.

Stark hunger flashed in his eyes, and he raised a hand, holding it in the air.

It curved gently, as if he wanted to touch my neck, or the side of my face.

But he didn’t move. He just held it there, a few inches from my skin.

He pressed into me, his eyes wild, on the edge of control. “Why?” His breath was hot on me. He bent down, his eyes glittering now.

Then he found his control. He rested one hand against the wall, next to my head. The other found my hip and slid up, moving under my shirt, raising it.

God. I almost moaned.

Wetness flooded me, and I started to throb.

I wanted him.

So fucking bad.

He bent and his lips grazed over mine, my cheeks, my chin. Tingles raced through me.

Jesus.

I wanted him deep inside of me. I shifted, pressing against him, and both of us groaned from the contact.

I began moving, a slow grind, and he was quiet, grinding back.

This was different from the other times.

The terms had flipped. Roles were changing. Everything was being upended between us.

Tijan is one of a few authors, who has the ability to capture my interest from the very first page, and Canary was no different.

This is a mafia romance, but it also has the signature twists and turns, and surprises that are synonymous with Tijan’s book.

Canary is not only fast paced, but intriguing, and layered, with complex characters, and intrigue, action, danger, and suspense flows throughout this title.

This title isn’t for the faint of heart with plenty of graphic violence, danger, secrets and steam, but it’s definitely one of my top reads so far this year.

Bucking Tradition is the fifth title in the Devils Knights second generation series. After the ending to Changing Lanes, I was eager for more of Luna’s story.

Luna’s my kind of heroine, her feisty, strong, sassy and independent exterior hides a deeply vulnerable heart.

Ransom is under pressure and desperate to find the serial killer, responsible for the deaths of women associated with the Devils Knights, but has been unsuccessful so far, and he isn’t afraid to ask for help in the form of Bear, an intriguing addition to the series.  Ransom is dedicated, caring, hardworking and protective, and fits in with the Devils Knights, despite the fact he never made it as a prospect.

This pair are both incredibly head strong and their banter is full of verbal sparring.  They love nothing more than to get a rise from each other.

An enjoyable red with equal parts suspense, humour, heat and heart and I look forward to the next addition to the series.
