Still Standing is the first title in Kristen Ashley’s new series Wild West MC, featuring the brothers of the Aces High MC.   This title is reminiscent of Motorcycle Man, there are quite a few similarities, with slight difference between the Aces High MC and the Chaos MC, but also West ‘Buck’ Hardy, reminds me of Tack in many ways.  This title is an opposites attract, MC romance featuring Buck and Clara.

Buck is the gruff, alpha president of the Aces High MC.  He’s a loving and devoted divorced father to two teenage children Gear and Tatiana.  He’s quite affectionate and loving to those he holds dear but lethal if you cross him and a loyal brother to the members of his MC.   Buck also has ties to the Chaos MC as his sister Shelia is married to Dog.

Clara Delaney is down on her luck.  She’s a strong, resilient and intelligent heroine.  Despite her upbringing in the foster systems she sees the best in others but can also be a tad naive and struggles with forming relationships.  Clara aka ‘Toots’ as labelled by Buck is caring, compassionate and understanding, and her characters grows over the course of this title.

The relationship that Buck and Clara share is plagued by miscommunication and misunderstandings, which in some ways makes their relationship more realistic and relatable.   The chemistry between this pair is intense and undeniable.

There were some actions of Buck’s that I found to be a bit questionable, and found Clara to be very quick to forgive his actions but as the story progresses, you gain more insight into their thoughts and their behaviors become redeemable.

This title is a heartfelt and emotional romance that is whilst sexy, is also intense and fueled by drama.  There are strong themes of friendship, family and forgiveness and I look forward to seeing more of these characters in future additions to the series.
