Aspen “Blade” Carlisle is the last of his Delta Force team to find love…and he’s pretty bummed about that fact. Which might explain why he finds himself chatting up a telemarketer as if she’s a long-lost friend. But Wendy is surprisingly easy to talk to, so when they go from occasional calls during her work, to nightly conversations on their cells, it somehow feels right. So right, Blade eventually convinces the funny, sweet woman to meet him in person.
When their first face-to-face meeting gets high-jacked, Wendy Tucker is sure she and Aspen made a big mistake in taking their relationship to the next level. But the man is nothing if not persistent. Before long, Wendy’s allowing the handsome soldier to spend more time with her and Jack, the teen brother she’s raising, than anyone she’s ever dated. Though she knows there are limits to how close she can get to Aspen, no matter how much she likes him. Limits carefully constructed to protect Wendy and Jack from a past they’ve been running from for years.
But dating Blade means having an entire team of Deltas at her back. Which may come in handy not just with Wendy’s past…but also when her brother faces a current threat.

4.5 Stars
Rescuing Wendy is the eighth title in the Delta Force Heroes series, and feature Blade and Wendy. A connection is sparked between this pair via a marketing cold call, and builds into a special friendship.
Blade and Wendy are endearing, realistic and relate-able characters. Blade aka Aspen is an honest, open and honorable alpha.
Wendy is sweet, kind, caring and compassionate, but she harbors secrets. She's put her life on hold in order to raise her younger brother.
A few figurative bombs are dropped within the story line in regard to Truck and Mary, that has just made me even more eager for their story.
Although their is action, intrigue and suspense within this title it's not quite as prevalent as in some of Ms Stoker's previous books.
Blade and Wendy's story is well paced, with a character driven plot. I found their connection to be realistic, and their chemistry is quite palpable.
Once again the other members of Delta Force, who have appeared as previous heroes of the series, are prevalent within this story line, and we get to see more of them and their other halves.
I will be eagerly awaiting Mary and Truck's story next!
New York Times, USA Today, #1 Amazon Bestseller, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, Susan Stoker has a heart as big as the state of Tennessee where she lives, but this all American girl has also spent the last eighteen years living in Missouri, California, Colorado, Indiana, and Texas. She's married to a retired Army man (and current firefighter/EMT) who now gets to follow her around the country.
