Say You Swear - Meagan Brandy

For years, I’ve dreamt of what college life could bring and while some things changed, there was always one constant.

It didn’t matter how wild I allowed my imagination to run, it always led me to the same place in the end.

It led me to him.

My future was clear, and he was it.

Until suddenly ... he wasn’t.

Now I’m a shell of who I was, on a path too blurry to follow, and I see no way out.

No way up.

They say first loves last forever.

That’s exactly what I’m afraid of.

Say You Swear, has to be one of my favorite reads this year.  The synopsis is kind of vague, so I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to get with this one, and honestly if I had known, I’m not sure that I would have read this book, as it’s a trope that I don’t usually connect with.  But it’s so much more, it’s a surprising story of friendship, family, and love, with raw emotion and angst that leaves you feeling completely wrung out.  I will admit that this one bought me to tears, but I was completely invested and enthralled by the twists and turns, angst, sexual tension, and drama that unfolded before my eyes.

The characters are endearing, the heroine is strong, yet vulnerable, and loving, with a close-knit group of friends that are more like family, and the hero is a complex character that oozes integrity.   He’s incredibly loveable, passionate, loyal, and willing to sacrifice his own happiness for those he cares for most.

I highly recommend Say You Swear, and if you’ve never read Meagan Brandy’s work this is a great place to start.
