Love’s fun … until it’s not

Alesha
First meeting I managed six words
Didn’t stop him looking
The next time there was a few more
Didn’t stop him touching
Third time gets easier
But it didn’t stop her looking or touching him
Luckily forth time his words flowed, convincing me it’s not as it seems

She wanted him
But he wanted me
I’ll fight for what’s mine

Xavier
You look back and say there is that one day when your story changed.
For me there are two.

The day I met Alesha.
Her eyes, that timid smile, the nervousness.
No woman before even comes close
The one I didn’t know I needed

Then there is that other day
The one that changed everything in a way I couldn’t control.
I promised to always protect her
Instead I introduced her to my hell
Now only she can save me

4 Stars

Although Love's Fun is the fourth title in the Time For Love Series, it was my first time reading Karen Deen's work.  I quite enjoyed this opposites attract romance, loaded with hot and steamy love scenes and strong themes of family and friendship.

Xavier and Aleesha are lovely, relatable characters.  To begin with Xavier comes across as a bi of an egomaniac.  As their story progresses we begin to see a complexity and depth to this outgoing, charming and funny character.

Aleesha is an incredibly genuine and endearing character, who I instantly connected with.  She's curvy, introverted, loves book, is kind of shy and awkward and loves to loose herself in a book!

Although this title had the perfect blend of heat, heart, intrigue and suspense I struggled with some of the editing.  It has so much potential to go from a good book to a great book.  Little things irritated me like sentences that were a tad repetitive, or ran on with a lack of contractions.  I also noticed in some cases the tense changed mid paragraph.  I also believe it could have done with further beta reading, as I noted in one passage a character was described to be wearing jeans, that then changed to shorts.

Overall though Love's Fun is a sweet, fun and fast paced read and although I believe it could be polished further I quite enjoyed Aleesha and Xavier's story and look forward to reading more of Karen's work in the future.
